Lyme disease can be devastating financially; many patients can’t work as much or can’t work at all, and many of the treatments are not covered by insurance. Dr Radovsky will talk about some guiding principles in deciding how to spend your money and give some practical tips on how to get the most cost-effective (and most effective) care for tick-borne illness
About Dr Radovsky:
As a child, I was fascinated by how the human body works. I was fortunate to have two uncles and an aunt who were physicians who modeled caring and thoughtful medical care, and encouraged my interest. However, when I went to Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, I was more drawn to alternative therapies. I considered going to naturopathic medical school or becoming a midwife. Still undecided about a career path, I moved to California. I met mentors there who were practicing integrative medicine, and I decided that I too could combine my love of alternative therapies with an evidence-based, rigorous approach to healing. By choosing an allopathic degree, I also hoped I could change the medical model from within.
I attended Boston University School of Medicine and trained as a family physician at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency Program in Augusta, Maine.
After working in rural Maine for several years, I moved to Eau Claire, WI and then to St. Paul. I was on the faculty of the United Family Practice Residency Program for ten years, and then worked at HealthEast Clinics for seven years. I received a Bush Medical Fellowship in 2006. I studied fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and became interested in chronic Lyme disease as a frequent explanation for these conditions. I later completed an ILADS preceptorship with Dr. Richard Horowitz in New York.
In 2015, I decided to move into a full-time practice of integrative medicine, and banded together with dear friends and respected colleagues to form Birch Tree Healing Arts, a truly integrative, collaborative and egalitarian healthcare practice (www.birchtreehealingarts.com).
I am married and have two grown children. I live in St. Paul with my husband and our cat, and enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, and word games. I am active in the Jewish and the Vipassana meditation communities.
